OnThEdge
fruit is sourced primarily from dry-farmed vineyards in the esteemed
Rosedale-Pickett Road area of the North-Eastern geographical Napa
Valley. Abramo Frediani first settled on Pickett Road near
Calistoga around the turn of the last century after emigrating from
his native Tuscan mountain village of Vallico Sotto. Abramo’s son
Gene and his wife Jeanne acquired and/or developed the current
properties beginning shortly after WW-II. At one time they farmed
several hundred acres consisting of prune and walnut orchards in
additon to vineyards. Since Gene’s untimely death in 1978, his son
Jim has managed the day to day operations. Working closely with
Jim, we carefully select special blocks or particular rows from
approximately 180 acres of vineyards from which we craft our
limited production OnThEdge
and Jean Louis Vermeil
winesOnThEdge
Winery.
This unique area near the base of the Palisades, features a broad
variety of soil types ranging from the higher and essentially
bottomless, Pleasanton gravels, to the lower, richer, and heavier
Bale clay loams fronting the Napa River. The vineyards, the warm
Calistoga days, cool foggy nights and 3rd generation
Frediani Family winegrowing experience combine to bless us with
fruit rich in color and flavor density.
